You can get to Petrozavodsk from Moscow or St. Petersburg by train. It will take you only one night.
Also it is possible to drive a car or take a bus from Finnland, as Karelia and Finnland have a common border

Tour of the city.
Duration: 2 hours.
The bus will pick you up from your hotel and the English-speaking guide will take you for the tour of the city. During the tour of the city you will get acquainted with the history and culture of the capital of Karelia - Petrozavodsk and take a walk along the beautiful lake embankment.
Kizhi Island
Duration: 6 hours.

The hydrofly will bring you from Petrozavodsk to the unique island in the Onego Lake. The architectural ensemble of Kizhi has served as the foundation for an open-air museum of the masterpieces of wooden architecture now known throughout the world. The most significant monuments of old wooden architecture are offered to its visitors eyes.
Vepsa Ethnographic museum

80 kilometer away from Petrozavodsk the centre of Vepsian national minority - the settlement Sheltozero is located. The Vepsa historical-and-ethnographic museum in the settlement of Sheltozero is the lure for tourists from many countries. The museum has collections of unique Items of the Vepsa history, culture and everyday life. You will absorb the atmosphere of the traditional Vepsa home, taste dishes of the traditional national cousine and enjoy the traditional folk dancing show.
Marcial Waters and Kivach Waterfall
Duration: 7 hours.

The bus will take you 50 kilometer away from Petrozavodsk to the first Russian resort the Marcial Waters, founded by Peter the Great. You will have a chance to taste the water from 4 springs in the resort. Each of them is different in its chemical structure and cures a certain system of organism. The resort is interesting not only from the medical but also from the historical side.
Rafting down the Shuja River
Duration: 5 hours.
Price 50$ pp
This route is for active tourists, who would like to change the routine of everyday life and take risks. You will get to the starting point of the route – Polovina Village (55 km from Petrozavodsk). After 7 kilometer rafting you will enjoy an open-air picnic (food cooked on the open fire).
